Editor’s Note: Upon reviewing some old posts on my website, I have to say, “Look here!” I was writing about Bernie Sanders two years before he announced his run for President in 2016. I must be as consistent in my views as he is. And as right. :-) ~ January 21, 2019.
Who is Senator Bernie Sanders?
Does the word “socialist” scare you? That depends on how easy you scare. Sanders is interested in preventing big money from controlling U.S. politics. (Hmm, that sounds like preserving democracy.) He wants more balance between capitalism and the common good of the people.
Although Senator Sanders does not belong to a political party, he caucuses with the Democratic Party. His political priorities include:
- Restoration of the shrinking middle class
- Reversal of global warming
- Universal health care
- Affordable education
- Fair trade policies
Senator Sanders serves on five U.S. Senate committees:
- Health, Education, Labor and Pensions
Sanders chairs the Veterans’ Affairs Committee.
