Popular Resistance: The Occupy Wall Street Movement Lives On

Grass Roots Activity Anywhere?

The Occupy Wall Street demonstration kind of fizzled out. But it got me wondering if there were any other grass roots movements taking up the cause to restrain corporate power in our government. Now I realize the spirit of Occupy Wall  Street is alive and well – and maturing.

PopularResistance.org

The Occupy Wall Street group has, in fact, evolved into PopularResistance.org. Here’s their mission statement:

PopularResistance.org seeks to aid in bringing movements for peace, justice, economic fairness and environmental protection together into an independent, nonviolent and diverse movement that can end the power of concentrated wealth, shift power to the people and put human needs before corporate greed.

Popular Resistance, Our Mission

Grass Roots Resistance Awareness

One visit to the PopularResitance website will open your eyes to an impressive array of grass roots resistance happening right now. Most of the reported resistance activities are U.S.-based. But resistance in other countries is covered, as well, like in Canada (“Rockers Not Frackers! Quebec’s Creative Resistance to Fracking“) and in Japan (“Fukushima Update: TEPCO & Japan Begin to Face Reality“).

Resist! Create! Educate! Organize! Strategize!
