Should the Patriot Act Be Renewed?

The Patriot Act is scheduled to be renewed, or curtailed, on June 1, 2015. With a bit of humor, John Oliver explores the issues and interviews Edward Snowden in Russia.

There are very few government checks on what America’s sweeping surveillance programs are capable of doing. John Oliver sits down with Edward Snowden to discuss the NSA, the balance between privacy and security, and dick-pics.

I am so disappointed in the American people represented here, I guess that is our history, only 3% of the population actually realize what is happening and rebel to defend our rights while the rest sit back and claim to be Americans. Thank you John Oliver for showing this and I think Edward Snowden has thrust a powerful topic into the light of those able to understand its ramifications – all dicpics aside. Thank you Mr. Snowden for doing this interview and know that their are people that do “get it”.

Thank you, Molly, for taking the time to comment and for ‘getting it.’

Since I recently did several posts referencing Edward Snowden, I have lost 2 faithful followers (maybe more). Many people see him as a traitor, and nothing else.

Terrific video. I love John Oliver. Hilarious and pertinent. Also, I happen to think Edward Snowden is a true patriot.

Thanks for your enthusiastic comment on the video – and I agree about your Edward Snowden assessment. When I viewed Citizenfour, I had such a sense that Snowden is a protector – he really is remarkable.

And extremely bright. Too bad he has to suffer for our Government’s wrong-doings. And it’s too bad the average American attention span is only .30 seconds, or more people would realize who he is and what sort of B.S. he exposed about the NSA.
