Prepare for ‘Flood the System’ – Fall 2015

Rising Tide North America has unveiled the coming mass action: #FloodTheSystem. Coordinated within the international climate justice network, #FloodTheSystem will create a massive wave of climate action events in the months preceding the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) that begins on November 30, 2015 in Paris.

Not a mere protest, #FloodTheSystem is calling for a massive collective intervention to uproot the political and economic systems that have caused the climate crisis.

Starting this September, Rising Tide North America is calling for mass actions to shut down the economic and political systems threatening our survival. Already, hundreds of thousands are streaming into the streets to fight back against climate chaos, capitalism and white supremacy. ~ #FloodTheSystem

Here is how #FloodTheSystem is being organized:

Get Ready: Protesters Vow to ‘Flood the System’ for Climate and Planetary Justice

Sandy Nurse, organizer with the New York City chapter of Rising Tide, told Common Dreams that the network is urging people to plan their own actions locally and coordinate regionally and continentally through spokescouncils — formed when affinity groups come together around a common purpose. Nurse said that, while actions are not yet public, ‘there are a lot of ideas. Groups might block oil trains, they might block fossil fuel destruction.’ ~ Common Dreams

This is awesome! When you look around at that state of the world, it’s so easy to feel hopeless and depressed. But then you hear about movements like this and see so many people taking a stand against our broken and corrupted system, It’s so encouraging! I think the number of people fed up with the status quo is growing and one day we will change the world together!

The climate crisis may give us the solidarity to do it. I like the focus on climate justice. People say we need new economic and political systems.

“We need a profound social transformation to uproot the institutions of capitalism, colonialism, patriarchy, and white supremacy, the systems that created the climate crisis.”
