Grand Canyon on Endangered Places List

The National Trust of Historic Treasures says the Grand Canyon is threatened by the proposed construction of giant entertainment centers.

This year’s list of the endangered places, monuments and buildings by The National Trust for Historic Preservation includes the Grand Canyon, the South Street Seaport in New York City and the AG Gaston Motel in Alabama, where many civil rights activists, such as Martin Luther King Jr., met to strategize.

  • it’s unfortunate that everyone seems to think that a luxury entertainment complex needs to be within walking distance of every place that they want to visit. Hell, if that needs to be in Grand Canyon plans – stay in Phoenix, Scottsdale, or Sedona & pay for one of the bus tours that run to the canyon. Why wreck an open space?
