Hawaii Leads the Way on Renewable Energy

 

Hawaii is leading the way on renewable energy with the most ambitious transition to green energy of any of the 50 States. The U.S. Military is backing the effort 100%.

Obviously, as a cluster of islands, Hawaii is extremely vulnerable to rising sea levels, and has a vested interest in climate action. But Governor Ige also argues that renewable energy is cost effective and smart business.

At the Asia Pacific Resilience Innovation Summit held in Honolulu, Hawaii, this week, Governor David Ige dropped a bombshell. His administration will not use natural gas to replace the state’s petroleum-fueled electricity plants, but will make a full-court press toward 100 percent renewables by 2045. Ige’s decisive and ambitious energy vision is making Hawaii into the world’s most important laboratory for humankind’s fight against climate change.     This makes so much sense! I remember when I was in Oahu in 1998, the military complexes already had solar roofs installed. When I contemplate where the Hawaiian islands are located, the challenge of importing oil is a daunting and expensive feat to consider. The sun is already ever-present and free!

      Hawaii seems very progressive. Maybe it’s because they are separated from the mainland, and they seem connected to their roots. I’d love to visit there some day. 🙂
