Nature Doesn’t Need People: “Home”

In my mailbox today…

Reese Witherspoon as Home

Dear Friend,

I wish you could have been there last night when I took the stage at the climate talks in Paris and presented your #INeedNature selfies to a packed room that included U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, heads of state and top-level climate negotiators. Your message was received with rousing applause. The energy in the room was incredible — and exactly what was needed to inspire action during these final days of the climate negotiations.

Like you, Reese took a stand for our one shared home. She explained, “By lending my voice to nature, I hope to remind people at this critical moment that people need nature and its great gifts.”

My colleagues and I at Conservation International are grateful for Reese’s support — and for yours. We are at an important juncture in our planet’s history. What we do now will make all the difference. With your support, Conservation International will continue to work hard every day to protect nature and to combat climate change — because we only have one home. And if we don’t take care of it, it can’t take care of us.

Sincerely,

Dr. M. Sanjayan
Executive Vice President and Senior Scientist
