Burning Issues: Lawrence Wilkerson on U.S. as Empire (Campaign for America’s Future)

Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, former chief of staff to Secretary of State Colin Powell in the Bush administration, offers a sharp critique of U.S. “imperial power” empire-building in this Burning Issues video segment. Burning Issues offers analysis from progressive experts on issues of global concern in the 2016 presidential campaign.

Being concerned about global relations, I was riveted when Col. Lawrence Wilkerson said we need to move from imperial power to peer power.

“We need to manage the movement from an imperial power to peer power. And we need leadership to do that. Of the crop of candidates we’re looking at now on both sides of the political aisle, the only one who seems to understand, intuitively and intellectually, the crisis this country confronts… is Bernie Sanders.”

Of course I was further impressed, when Wilkerson added that Bernie Sanders is the only presidential candidate who comes close to fully grasping the peer power concept.

Thanks to Secular Jurist for introducing me to the Burning Issues series.
