“In Similar Circumstances…”

Regarding FBI’s recommendation to not indict Hillary Clinton for the security risks of her private email server while Secretary of State…

“To be clear, this is not to suggest that in similar circumstances, a person who engaged in this activity would face no consequences.” ~ FBI Director James Comey

It’s so good to know we’re safe from the little guys who think they can be careless with national security.

I sincerely hoped this would not be the result. But funny how just now, I got déjà vu as I wrote the above words.

I feel sickened and afraid for our world, much less our country. Is there no firewall to contain elite privilege?

The far Right rages against a “New World Order.” The far Left rails against a global conspiracy of wealth and corporate power. In between, millions of ordinary folk intuitively know something’s amiss and are rejecting the established order.

I’m not saying that Hillary committed some egregious crime here, and I believe that she did not. What I am saying is that this FBI decision not to indict Hillary would have similarly occurred even if she had committed some egregious crime. And, it is the probability of that scenario which speaks to a larger reality needing no conspiracy to fulfill.

There’s a historic revolution underway, but it’s not the populist one commonly envisioned. This one is hiding in plain sight, and was begun four decades ago. The elites, through their shared motivations and behaviors, have been methodically erecting a new technocratic administrative infrastructure analogous to an ant colony where individuals are not particularly cognizant of the bigger picture. Why? That is a difficult question having many possible answers. Obviously, I don’t know.

However, I do know that socioeconomic power is consolidating at the expense of democracy, national sovereignty, and middle class prosperity. The established order is tightening its grip over the population as if it were preparing for some anticipated event or circumstances of great magnitude. I’m not suggesting something clear out of the blue like the End Days’ rise of the antichrist or an extraterrestrial invasion. No, but there is one staring right in our faces… climate change.

Now, excuse me while I take-off my old wrinkled tin-foil hat and return to watching TV – there’s a Johnny Carson rerun on.

” The established order is tightening its grip over the population as if it were preparing for some anticipated event or circumstances of great magnitude.”
~ Agree with you, Robert. They’re preparing for the mass migrations that will occur worldwide – including here in the USA – as a result of climate change. They’re also heavily investing in projects to colonize Mars.

      • JoAnn Chateau

I agree with you in principle, Rosaliene. I just think the climate crisis is coming along faster than their Mars technology. But if there’s time, I’m for elites going to Mars – on one-way tickets.

      • JoAnn Chateau

Elites colonizing Mars would perform an important anthropological experiment. I’m curious who’d end up as the underlings. Do you think it might be the Koch Brothers, Exxon executives, or the Clintons?

    • JoAnn Chateau

Robert, thank you for pointing out the elites are a 1000 miles ahead of our populist revolution. You are the kindest of men, and I would like to be just as kind, but… I hope your TV tube blows.

      • Robert A. Vella

It’s okay, JoAnn. I’m quite accustomed to being chastised for my brutally honest observations. ‘Shooting the messenger’ is a natural human reaction, and I have so many virtual holes in me as to make a great quantity of Swiss cheese.

Still, I continue to hope that – by some infinitely small measure – my efforts to inform will improve our populist revolution’s ability to understand what we’re up against and to devise effective counter strategies and tactics. As Sun Tzu wrote in The Art of War, “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles.”

        Your friend, always.

      • JoAnn Chateau

The reality is more fearsome than most people are able to accept or imagine, at least at first.

Recently, a friend claimed the fossil fuel industry was happy about global warming because they could at last drill the Arctic. Well, I laughed. Then I saw he was completely serious.

It’s so mind-boggling. The biggest stumbling block may be realizing there is a certain class of powerful people who consider the rest of us utterly dispensable, without apology. It contradicts everything we are taught or understand intuitively.

      • Robert A. Vella

Very true, and that emotional stumbling block is exploited in many ways to discredit public criticism against such powerful people – such as labeling negative accusations about their motives as “conspiracy theories.” That’s why I urge our readers to ignore arbitrary generalizations and instead derive their own conclusions based solely on direct and circumstantial evidence.

Then similarly, the International Criminal Court can’t find a legal basis for prosecuting Tony Blair, despite the fact the ICC was established precisely to prosecute the world’s worst-offending war criminals – like Tony Blair.

“To be clear, Hillary Clinton faces no consequences, because in America some are above the law.”” would be more precise.

    • JoAnn Chateau

That’s exactly the drift I’m getting.

    You’re right, this is worrisome.
