Why Republicans Want to Ban Class Action Lawsuits | TYT

“Corporations continue to consolidate their power over the American people. Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, breaks it down…

‘There are two major laws that Congress is working to pass that would make it more difficult for an American to sue a corporation, The Consumerist reported.

H.R. 985, the Fairness in Class Action Litigation Act is akin to an Erin Brockovich killer. The first of the two laws, would make it more difficult for American’s to file class action lawsuits against a corporation, the Center for American Progress explains. The law would put restrictions on the criteria for people banding together for a class action suit. It also would complicate and delay any payments for an attorney representing the clients. Such an act would make it risky for any lawyer to take on a case to help someone hurt by a corporation. According to CAP, Vice President Mike Pence has been seeking laws like this for years…

H.R. 720 the Lawsuit Abuse Reduction Act would require federal judges to penalize or otherwise discipline any attorney that brings what they consider to be a ‘frivolous lawsuit.’ Currently, this decision is left up to the judge’s discretion.

Why Is Trump Doing Free Exxon Commercials?? | TYT

“What does he get out of this? Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, breaks it down…

‘President Trump raised eyebrows after he posted five congratulatory tweets promoting a Monday announcement from the energy giant ExxonMobil, the company from which his secretary of state came to the administration.

The company had said earlier in the day that it was expanding its manufacturing operation along the Gulf Coast and creating more than 45,000 jobs in the region.

Initially, the White House posted a press release reiterating the ExxonMobil news. That press release contained a paragraph that appeared to be copied, almost word-for-word, from the Exxon announcement.

Trump, who wrote on Twitter on Monday that the move from Exxon showed that “we are already winning again,” then posted a nearly minute-long video praising the company soon after the administration’s release…

‘I’m very pleased to announce that the great company ExxonMobil is going to be investing $20 billion in the Gulf Coast and the Gulf Coast region,’ the president said. ‘It’ll be 45,000 jobs, and they’re great jobs — $100,000 average. And this is something that was done, to a large extent, because of our policies and the policies of this new administration having to do with regulation and so many other things.’

‘I said we’re bringing back jobs, and this is one big example of it,” Trump said. “I want to thank very much ExxonMobil. Special company. Special people.’

Why Is Trump Trademarking Chinese Massage Parlors?? | TYT

“If this whole President/real estate mogul thing doesn’t pan out he can always fall back on his chain of Chinese massage parlors. Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, breaks it down…

‘China has granted preliminary approval to 38 new Trump trademarks that would allow the U.S. president and his family to develop name-branded hotels, golf courses and other hospitality services….

The provisional approvals were published Feb. 27 and Monday by China’s Trademark Office, and they’ll be formally registered if no objections are filed after 90 days.

Ethics lawyers have consistently warned that Trump could be in violation of the U.S. Constitution’s Emoluments Clause, which bans public servants from accepting anything of value from foreign states without congressional approval, if he receives special treatment from China during the process.’

If TrumpCare Fails, Donald Has a “Plan B” | TYT

“You won’t believe what Trump’s ‘plan B’ is… Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, breaks it down…

‘President Donald Trump told conservative groups that if the GOP leadership’s American Health Care Act did not pass, he would allow Obamacare to collapse and blame its failure on Democrats.

Trump revealed his strategy during a meeting with the conservative groups FreedomWorks, Club for Growth, Heritage Action, Americans for Prosperity, and the Tea Party Patriots at the White House on Wednesday. His comments were first reported by CNN’s Jim Acosta and were confirmed to Business Insider by a source with knowledge of the meeting…

Conservative groups say the AHCA’s tax credits that allow people to purchase insurance are a ‘Republican entitlement’ and the whole bill is simply ‘Obamacare Lite’ or ‘Obamacare 2.0.’

After the meeting, the heads of the various groups in attendance struck a conciliatory tone but still expressed concerns over the new bill.”

Crunch Time for Wolf-PAC New Mexico | TYT

“If you live in New Mexico and want to get money out of politics, go to http://www.wolf-pac.com/new_mexico and sign up today. Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, breaks it down…

There are only 2 ways to amend our Constitution: (1) Go through Congress (single digit approval rating) or (2) Go through our State Legislators via an amendment proposing convention.

Wolf-PAC believes that we can no longer count on our Federal Government to do what is in the best interest of the American people due to the unfettered amount of money they receive from outside organizations to fund their campaigns. We point to the failure of the Disclose Act as rock solid evidence that this would be a total waste of our time, effort, and money. We also point to the recent decision by the US Supreme Court to not even hear a case filed by Montana claiming it did not have to abide by Citizens United, as proof that state legislation is not a sufficient measure to solve this problem. We believe that we have no choice but to put an amendment in the hands of our State Legislators, who are not, at this moment in time, completely blinded by the influence of money, and might actually do what 96% of the country wants – take away the massive influence that money has over our political process.”
