During the 2016 Democrat Primary, the really interesting story was how underdog Bernie Sanders captured the admiration of American voters. An Independent Senator from the small state of Vermont, most people had never before heard of Sanders. Yet he quickly began to attract 1000’s to campaign rallies held in major city arenas all over the country.

As it turned out, Sanders didn’t win the race. He just built a political movement. Now he has his own media outlet, Bernie Sanders TV on Facebook.

A Diamond in the Rough

People didn’t become captivated with Sanders because of his slick image. But they did grow fond of his fly-away hair. People didn’t listen to Sanders for the sake of verbal eloquence. Rather, they grew to trust the words spoken in a strong Brooklyn accent.

Unpolished by professional celebrity stylists, Bernie Sanders was (still is) that rare valuable gem in its authentic state: a rough diamond. As an elected public servant, who sticks to the issues that make a difference in most American lives, he doesn’t care if you like his hair. He’s busy.

To make a long, fascinating story short, the progressive underdog nearly won the 2016 Democrat Primary. A lot of people think if the neutrality-mandated DNC and the mainstream media had not colluded with the Clinton campaign, that Bernie Sanders would have won the Primary.

A Positive Campaign on a Progressive Platform

Not only did Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign run on a highly progressive platform, the tone was positive and gentlemanly. He could have justifiably annihilated opponent Hillary Clinton, solely based on her corporate affiliations. Instead, he focused on the corrupt political system, not the individuals who are cozily ensconced within it. Besides, if Sanders didn’t win the Democratic Primary, he wanted Hillary Clinton to win the 2016 General Election — instead of a Republican.

And really, which one of us, had we been in Clinton’s shoes, could have resisted the temptation to “work” the system? Bernie Sanders, throughout his long political career, is one of the few who consistently has. Commitment to integrity is an especially scarce commodity in the world of power and politics, making Sanders singularly unique in that realm.

To emphasize the issue of a corrupting corporate power that grips American politics, the Sanders presidential campaign outright rejected corporate donations. A risky political move? They raised almost as much funding as the Clinton campaign, mostly from regular people, with an average donation of $27. Such a political accomplishment is absolutely revolutionary, and a remarkable political story. Yet the mainstream media made little effort to tell people about Sanders’ people-funded campaign, nor expound on its significance.

Bernie Sanders Is the Face of a Progressive Party

The outlier Bernie Sanders, a bonafide loser in the 2016 Election cycle, ends up welding great influence in the Democratic Party — and becomes the most popular politician in the United States. This may be the most incredible plot twist in political history. Although slow to catch on, the mainstream media now covers every move Sanders makes, if somewhat condescendingly.

At this point, Bernie Sanders is the virtual face of the Progressive Party… if we had one. He’s certainly at the center of a timeless story about the little guys who face a formidable giant. We have a hero protagonist, conflict, drama, high hopes, and nobody knows what will happen next. Will Sanders answer the call to run for President in 2020? It’s a riveting, suspenseful, unfolding tale!

All of which Bernie Sanders can use to branding advantage, while he weighs the options, and drafts strategic flow charts for every possibility and eventuality involved with the birthing of an American Progressive Party.
