When fast-food workers first began striking for the $15 minimum wage in 2014, they were ridiculed by many. They persisted in fighting economic injustice and their movement gained momentum. Yesterday, Illinois legislators approved a $15 state minimum wage.


SPRINGFIELD, IL — The Illinois Senate approved a bill Wednesday night that would raise the state’s minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2022. The bill, which was approved by the House of Representatives Tuesday, has to face its final hurdle: getting signed by Gov. Bruce Rauner.” ~ Lisa Marie Farver
