Wow. I love red rock country. I spent time in Phoenix in 1988 & 1989 and visited a lot of amazing places. I hiked down into the Grand Canyon and spent two days there. I got to feed green squirrels, watch deer feed on shrubs and watch lizards dart around the foot paths on the canyon floor. I also visited Saguaro Lake, Oak Creek Canyon, the Superstition Mountains, the (volcanic) San Francisco Peaks, Carlsbad Caverns, Zion National Park and a few other places I don’t remember the names of while in the area. 🙂 It is an awesome area to visit.

Green squirrels? A nice contrast to red rock, I bet. I love the Southwest, too – mysterious and beautiful.

        Yes, it is.

I fed peanuts by hand (carefully) to green squirrels in the Grand Canyon. It was March 31st & April 1st. It’s probably a color they turn in Winter to blend in with the Evergreens and Pines. 😀 It was about 45-50 degrees at the rim in the morning and in the nineties 5,000 feet lower in elevation inside the canyon. Very interesting to experience.

The Grand Canyon is incredible. All our parks and public lands are precious. Hope they remain safe, despite Trump’s efforts.

Magical. Let’s hope Trump’s cronies don’t discover something they’d like to mine there.

Last year, my sons helped me to realize my childhood dream of visiting the Grand Canyon. They topped off our trip with a tour of the Antelope Canyon. Oh, what joy!

That’s really neat JoAnn. Amazing how that sandstone eroded.

It is amazing, Leslie. I have never been, would like to see it up close and personal.
