Dylan Ratigan Is Funding His Run for Congress with Small Dollars

Dylan Ratigan interview about his run for Congress
Written by JoAnn Chateau

I’m still adding names to the 2018 Progressive Candidate List. One of the latest may be a name with which you’re familiar: Dylan Ratigan. The former MSNBC host is running for Congress in New York’s rural “North Country” 21st district.

In an interview with 7 News at Noon anchor Jeff Cole to discuss his campaign, Ratigan outlines how he will use his understanding of finance, economics, money, and power to fight for the interests of everyday people. Underlying that purpose, Ratigan is funding his campaign with small dollars.

[I am] basing my fund raising on small-dollar, broad-based fund raising because that is the only way you can actually run a campaign that doesn’t make you beholden to those who finance you. The fact of the matter is, it’s only by being able to exempt yourself from that control that you can actually represent the interests of your people.
