Federal Judge Says There’s No Good Explanation for Ending DACA

The Statue of Liberty

Yesterday, D.C. federal judge John Bates ruled the Trump Administration must continue the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA. He said the government’s effort to cancel the program was based on “virtually unexplained” claims.

I love that. “Virtually unexplained” is quite a tactful way of putting it!

Although DACA is not completely out of the woods, as the government has 90 days in which to challenge the court’s decision, it is very satisfying to see the Judicial Branch of government in action — counter-balancing unwise, undignified, unkind, unlawful actions emanating from the Executive Branch.

A great America will continue to have an open golden door.

The Statue of Liberty Inscription

Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses, yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore,
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.

JoAnn likes progressive politics and loves the canines. She writes fiction about Chester, the Alpha Bichon -- with a dash of humor and a dab of Poli-Sci. Her views and insights are tinted by a former profession in Counseling, Christian theological studies, and training in Library and Information Science. Retired now, JoAnn enjoys the creative life.

Chester is a scruffy little Bichon dog, with a congenial Napoleon Complex, and stars in "The Chester Chronicles." He sometimes reports independent Canine News -- NO corporate treats accepted, NO corporate bias. Woof!
